The Technology in DynaCenter
At the heart of DynaCenter lies Racemi's patent-pending Dynamic Server Allocation (DSA) technology. DSA virtualizes a server's image so that it can be run from any physical location from a centralized NAS or SAN or from a server's own local storage. Using DSA's templates, you can build out server images and deploy them to available servers as needed. Run an image from centralized storage for instant server provisioning or fail-over. Run an image from the server's local hard drive for maximum performance. DynaCenter's automated, instant provisioning removes the cost, time, and risk associated with reallocating a server and its surrounding network environment. Your servers are no longer tied to a single application and you can switch a server between multiple images to meet your current needs. With DynaCenter's resource monitoring, you are given a clear picture of your resource allocation and utilization. From the control console you can quickly reallocate under-utilized resources. DynaCenter can automate resource allocation based upon your configured rules and policies. It ensures that all servers remain optimally loaded by switching idle servers to a busy application or powering them down to conserve electricity. By sensing load conditions throughout the data center and allocating servers appropriately, DynaCenter provides each application with exactly the server capacity it needs, when it needs it, without the predefined limitations of a static server pool. With DynaCenter, the data center can handle increased load with improved reliability using fewer servers. The Many Uses for DynaCenter
DynaCenter's cross-platform provisioning makes it an ideal tool to provide full life-cycle maintenance for your servers. Its automated server imaging and patch management will reduce your administrative costs, reduce administrative error, and allow you to better utilize your server resources. But DynaCenter is much more than a patch management system. Its unique combination of provisioning and Dynamic Server allocation make it suitable for many additional uses that can save you money and improve your server utilization, some of which are described below. Add Server Life-Cycle Maintenance to Your Existing Production Servers
Most patch management systems work reasonably well when rolling out new server deployments. But they introduce a huge element of risk when deployed into an existing server installation. Although you would like to gain the cost savings of improved administration for your production servers, you cannot afford DynaCenter eliminates this risk with its unique ability to run your servers directly from the central image store without modifying their local storage in any way. Test different configurations safely– even roll your entire server farm onto a new version for full-scale production testing without making a single change to any of your servers. Only when you are sure that everything is perfect will you roll your changes out onto the servers' local storage. And with DynaCenter, you always maintain a library of previous versions for all your applications. Should trouble arise, you can instantly switch a server to a clean copy of its image, or roll it back to any previous version. Another problem that will often arise with existing installations is that of consistency across a server pool. In theory all of your servers should be identically configured. But you know they are not. And even worse, you don't know what the differences are or whether the differences are important. DynaCenter allows you to capture the image from each server and compare it to your master image. You will clearly see all of the differences and can select which to remove and which to keep. Image Libraries
Many development, QA, support, and training environments maintain large inventories of system images for testing and training purposes. This is often done by dedicating a server or disk drive to each unique image or configuration. This is an expensive approach, requiring dedicated hardware for each image, along with the necessity to manage that extra hardware. It is also risky, as any accident or error during normal use may corrupt an image, rendering it useless or perhaps corrupting test results. DynaCenter provides a more robust, less expensive image store. With DynaCenter you can capture images directly from existing test systems and save them for future use. When they are needed again, they can be rapidly cloned and allocated to an available server, reducing the required number of test systems. As the master image is never used directly by a server, there is no chance of corruption. With DynaCenter you can instantly switch a server from one test image to another. Use the Command Line Interface to automate test sequences across multiple images. Scheduled Server Sharing
DynaCenter can rapidly and safely re-provision entire server pools in a matter of seconds, enabling you to reuse those resources that sit idle during specific times of the day, days of the week, etc. For example, your desktop PCs running Windows sit idle in the evening and on the weekends. Switch them to an automated QA application running on Linux, and then back to Windows in the morning. Your transaction processing systems sit idle when the market is closed. Switch them to a batch job or data mining application. Integration Into Any Environment.
Because of our deep support for a variety of hardware and operating systems, DynaCenter offers a rapid return-on-investment where single workstation management of IT resources in multi-platform and OS environments is desired. ![]()
